Endoscopic / Videoscopic Minimally Invasive parathyroidectomy (EVMIP). This procedure is being performed by a hand full of surgeons world wide. Dr. Van Lier Ribbink had the honor of learning this from Dr. Francois Henry in Marseilles, France. The procedure involves removing a parathyroid adenoma causing hyperparathyroidism through very tiny incisions using cannulas and videoscopic imaging. The procedure provides exposure of the nerve to the vocal cords (recurrent laryngeal nerve) and exposure of the parathroid glands that cannot be matched by any other technique. Patients are discharged the same day of surgery from the recovery room following this surgery.
